The working week is over and we can finally breathe. Time to rest, recharge, and spend some quality moments with our loved ones and friends over the weekend.
But let’s be honest—from Monday till Friday, we’re caught in the whirlwind. Meetings, calls, emails, building AI prompts, juggling projects. We’re running from one thing to the next. Then the weekend arrives, and guess what? A whole new set of tasks is waiting for us. Shopping, laundry, cooking, shuttling our kids to sports and activities, catching up with friends. We’re busy all over again!
So when do we pause? When do we actually think about our week—what worked, what didn’t, what we accomplished, who we helped, and where we fell short? Without this reflection, we’re just repeating the same patterns, missing the chance to grow and improve.
I’ve found a simple habit that’s become my anchor. It doesn’t steal time from my family or friends, but it gives me clarity for the week ahead. Every Saturday, early in the morning, I go for a long walk. I’m a nature guy at heart, so I seek out forests, meadows, sea coasts, or riversides. The mornings are quiet—few people around—and I get to be “alone” with my questions and thoughts.
During these walks, I ask myself five questions:
1. What’s my overall feeling about the working week?
2. What did I do well and why?
3. What didn’t work and why?
4. What behaviors or skills do I need to work on to be better next week?
5. Do I need to ask somebody for help?
These five questions help me close one chapter and open another. They fuel my growth, keep me honest, and remind me that every week is a chance to become a better version of myself.
What about you? Do you have a habit or technique that helps you reflect on your week? I’d love to hear what works for you.
